Chef Wu of Cafe Anh Hong
Chef Jian Wu

Chef Wu moved to Salt Lake City from Taishan, southwest of the Guangdong province in China. Guangdong cuisine (广东菜), known as Cantonese cuisine in the West, is best known for dishes that are fresh, crisp, tender, and lightly seasoned. And it’s also where dim sum (點心) got its start in the world.

Jian started out at the Pearl Restaurant in the 80’s, known as one of the first places to serve the best Chinese food in Utah. Together with his brothers and sisters, Jian carried on that legacy with his dream and love for cooking to create Cafe Anh Hong in 1994.

As one of the first Chinese restaurants to offer dim sum in Utah, Cafe Anh Hong is known for a modern interpretation of classic dishes and insistence on only using high quality fresh ingredients.

Our chefs are hard at work creating the best dim sum every day, made fresh and offer a delightful variety to choose from. It’s why we are one of the best restaurants in Utah to enjoy steamed pork buns, chicken feet (雞爪), Shrimp Har Gow, Pan Fried Pot Sticker, and more.

Our dumplings are also delicious but did you know they hold a special place in China’s rich history and culture? Dumplings represent the value that we give to working and staying together. It’s why our family style dishes are made to eat together with friends and family. 请慢慢享用 - “Eat slow and enjoy every bite!”

Did you know? In Chinese culture, extra long noodles are good fortune for a long life and good future! Cafe Anh Hong is known for homemade hand-pulled noodles. We serve them many ways - in a Cantonese-style dumpling noodle soup, in our popular Chow Fun, and more. Chef Wu has been hand pulling noodles every morning since these dishes arrived on the menu.

You will love our Chef’s Specials including neighborhood favorites like honey walnut shrimp, char shu fire roasted pork, and traditional seafood popular dishes like Cantonese steamed fish laid w/ scallions.
